One month prior to the publication of this ad, in March 1969, the MC5 made a self-financed promotional tour on the West Coast and played the Straight Theater in San Francisco. The press made uncomplimentary reports of their shows in California. Soon after that the MC5 were dropped from Elektra Records ; in fact they did not return to California until November 1969 to play the Fillmore West.
