YOUNG LUST #2:
|
|
"Young
Lust #1 is pretty much pure satire. Stock situations abound. The
laffs are easy, almost programmed. And, of course, the sex is larger-than-life,
caricatured, gross. It was meant to be the flip-side of the paternal, insipid
Girls Romance Comics on the racks in the corner luncheonette. Young
Lust delivered. It went ALL THE WAY. Yow. ... As its editor, I thought Young Lust #2 should have less dependency on specific satire or put-on; more artists represented; plots with meat; characters with substance. If Young Lust #1 was a reverse cliché, #2 was a reverse cliché with a side helping of "real life". ... The satire in #2 functioned more as social, or cultural "criticism", as opposed to the broad farce of #1. You were amused, but when the laughter faded, there was something left to think about."
